Sydney Domestic Airport Pick-Up (T2 & T3)
Where to collect arriving passengers, the map, the free zone & how to get there — a local operator's guide since 2006
Meeting someone off a domestic flight at Sydney Airport? This page shows exactly where to pick up passengers at the Domestic Airport (T2 & T3): the free Priority Pick-Up zone (green signs — previously the yellow "Public Pick-Up" area), where it sits on the map, which terminal your airline uses, how much time is free, and the step-by-step route in.
Arriving T2 and T3 passengers are collected at the Priority Pick-Up area between the two terminals, by the P3 car park next to the Sydney Domestic Airport train station. Today it is signposted with green "Priority Pick-Up" signs; older maps and signs called it the yellow "Public Pick-Up" zone — it is the same idea: a short-stay area for quickly collecting arrivals. An undercover walkway connects both terminals to it, so your passenger can reach the car without crossing traffic.
Sydney Domestic Airport (T2 & T3) — the Priority Pick-Up area sits between the terminals, by P3.
The short video below walks the exact route to the pick-up point, step by step, so your driver knows precisely where to wait:
Sydney's Domestic Airport has two terminals side by side. Check which one your passenger is arriving into before you set off — the Priority Pick-Up serves both, but Arrivals are at different ends.
| Terminal | Airlines |
| T3 | Qantas domestic |
| T2 | Jetstar, Virgin Australia, Rex and regional airlines |
The Priority Pick-Up area is built for a quick collection: you get a short free window (historically the first 10 minutes) to load up and go. Stay longer than the free period, or park in a standard car park, and normal parking rates apply.
💡 Tip: the free period and rates change from time to time, so read the signs on the day. If your passenger might be delayed at baggage claim, it is cheaper to wait in the short-term car park (P1/P2) and drive to the pick-up point once they text you they're out — rather than circling.
Enter the Domestic Terminal precinct and follow the road signage toward Arrivals. Look for the green "Priority Pick-Up" signs and follow them to the area between T2 and T3, by the P3 car park. Your passenger walks out to meet you via the undercover walkway. The video in section 1 shows the whole route from the road, so there are no wrong turns.
Picking up your own hire car instead? The car rental desks and pick-up bays are within the domestic precinct. Renting at the airport counter is convenient, but the on-airport rate is not always the cheapest — the short video below shows how to find a better car rental deal near Sydney Domestic Airport.
Early flight, late arrival, or picking someone up at dawn? These are the hotels closest to the domestic terminals (T2 & T3) — all on the domestic side of the airport, most within a short walk. 💡 Early domestic flight? A hotel a 5-10 minute walk from T2/T3 beats a city hotel plus a pre-dawn taxi. For a full night before an
international departure, the T1-side hotels (Aerotel inside T1, Rydges across the road) are covered on the
Sydney Airport (T1) guide.
If you'd rather someone else handle the pick-up — no parking, no circling, no meter — I meet arriving passengers at the domestic terminal, help with the bags and drive straight to the hotel or address in a luxury vehicle. Flat rates, flight tracked, card payment.
Long connection, or arriving in Sydney a little early? With a few free hours you can see the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, Mrs Macquarie's Chair and even Bondi Beach — if someone handles the logistics. My private tour starts and ends right at the domestic terminal: I track your flight, meet you at Arrivals, and get you back with a safe margin before boarding.
Where do you pick up passengers at Sydney Domestic Airport?
At the Priority Pick-Up area between T2 and T3 (green signs; previously the yellow "Public Pick-Up" zone), by the P3 car park next to the domestic train station. An undercover walkway leads there from both terminals.
Is the domestic pick-up free?
You get a short free window (historically the first 10 minutes). Beyond that, or in a standard car park, normal parking rates apply — check the signs on the day.
Which terminal is my airline?
T3 is Qantas domestic; T2 is Jetstar, Virgin Australia, Rex and regionals. The pick-up area serves both.
Is this the same as the "yellow zone" or "express pick-up"?
Yes — the free short-stay collection area has been signed as the yellow "Public Pick-Up" and as "Express / Priority Pick-Up" over the years. It's the same purpose: pull in, collect, drive off. Today's signs are green "Priority Pick-Up".
