Climate
The climate is hot and tropical. Best time to visit: May to October (dry season). During this period there is no exhausting heat, humidity is lower, and you can swim safely without encountering dangerous box jellyfish (in the wet season, stinger suits are required).
Cairns itself has no swimming beaches (muddy mangrove coastline). Tourists head to the Northern Beaches (Trinity Beach, Palm Cove) or swim in the famous artificial lagoon in the city centre.
Great Barrier Reef Islands
